WEIBELWEIBEL – this is us

In 1965, Hans Weibel established the company, laying the groundwork for the successful history of WEIBELBEIBEL AG. He began making upholstered furniture – at first in Zurich, then in Endingen in the canton of Aargau – that combined a sense of well-being, individuality and aesthetics. In 1970, the Intertime Collection was introduced and positively received by the market. Just a year later, the company relocated to Endingen, necessitating the first expansion. With the introduction of the label a.r.s anatomisch richtig sizen (anatomicially correct seating) in 1974, the foundation was laid for the brands Intertime pure sitting and WEIBELWEIBEL, which continue to stand for anatomically perfect seating furniture with versatile functions. In 1986, the company changed its name to Intertime AG Polstermöbelfabrik. A revolution took place in 1989 with the introduction of the Hydro-Cutter cutting system: Patterns could now be cut efficiently and flawlessly using high-pressure water jets. With the company’s success, more space was required. Thus, in 1998, an expansion was made in the areas of logistics and office space.

Since 2001, brothers Johannes and Lukas Weibel have been leading the family business in the second generation. With the generational transition, the ambition to harmonise aesthetics, customised seating quality and sustainable production was further strengthened. In 2001, the company won its first “Furniture of the Year” award. A year later, the company’s website received the “Design Winner” and “Best of Swiss Web” awards. In 2009, the first “Red Dot Design Award” was presented to the company. In the following years, various design awards were won. A particularly significant recognition came in 2014: The company won the Aargau Business Award as a successful and innovative enterprise with a strong foundation for economic sustainability.

2015 marked the 50th anniversary of the company. With the introduction of Intertime Individual, a new business sector emerged: tailor-made, individual seating furniture for the contract sector. Additionally, the WEIBELWEIBEL collection was launched and distributed to premium stockists. Two years later, another “Furniture of the Year” award followed. In 2022, the company was renamed WEIBELWEIBEL AG, further strengthening the emotional connection to the Weibel brothers. Intertime Individual became WEIBELWEIBEL Contract. In 2025, the company will celebrate its 60th anniversary.
